Our fabrics: excellence at the heart of every creation
Nidha
Nidha is one of the most iconic fabrics in Gulf countries. Widely used in Saudi Arabia, it is particularly prized for its lightness, breathability, and comfort, even in intense heat regularly exceeding 40 °C.
Based in Egypt, where summer temperatures also reach very high levels, I quickly understood why this fabric had become a benchmark. It allows you to stay covered while offering a pleasant feeling of freshness daily.
There are several qualities of Nidha, with differences in texture, thickness, fluidity, and sheen. At Al Zawja Modesty, we favor the less satin versions to maintain a sober, discreet, and elegant look, true to our vision of modesty.
Despite its lightness, Nidha can be perfectly worn during cooler seasons, especially our premium Saudi Nidha.
Saudi Nidha
Saudi Nidha is an extremely fluid, light, and breathable fabric.
Its natural drape adds a lot of elegance while offering great freedom of movement. It is an excellent choice for daily wear, especially in hot climates.
Premium Saudi Nidha
Our Premium Nidha represents one of the highest-end versions of this material.
Denser than classic Saudi Nidha, it offers better opacity while maintaining excellent fluidity. It has a particularly soft and silky feel, a noble and structured drape, and wrinkles very little.
It is a fabric designed for exceptional pieces, combining comfort, elegance, and durability.
Qamaria (Saudi Crepe)
Qamaria is a high-end Saudi crepe, different from the classic crepes usually found on the market.
Slightly thicker, softer, and of higher quality, it has an elegant, fluid, and slightly structured drape. It offers excellent hold while remaining very comfortable to wear.
One of its main assets is its wrinkle resistance: even after machine washing, it maintains a neat appearance with very few creases.
Highly appreciated in several Arabian Peninsula countries, particularly Yemen, Qamaria seduces with its comfort, softness, and high-end finish. It brings a discreet and timeless elegance to each piece.
Saudi Muslin
Saudi muslin is a light, airy, and particularly fluid material.
Unlike some muslins, Saudi muslin offers better weaving quality and a more elegant finish.
Its supple drape allows it to naturally follow movements while providing a lot of comfort.
When used alone, muslin is not opaque. However, when lined, it offers complete coverage while maintaining its lightness and fluidity.
It is a material used for veils, niqabs, khimars, capes…
About Opacity
All the fabrics we select are designed to offer excellent coverage. However, it is important to remember that very few classic fabrics can guarantee absolute opacity in all situations.
Even when an abaya is made from a fabric considered opaque, a slight transparency may appear at the bottom of the garment when you walk, only if it reveals your feet, or under particularly intense light. This phenomenon is common and does not only concern our fabrics.
However, when the garment completely covers the feet, this slight transparency generally no longer manifests itself.
As a precaution, and because modesty remains our priority, we always recommend wearing a light skirt or dark clothing under the abaya, as well as opaque knee-highs. This recommendation remains valid regardless of the brand of clothing.
Finally, the perception of transparency remains partly subjective. Some people will consider a fabric perfectly opaque, while others will be more demanding. We therefore prefer to encourage you to take the necessary precautions to wear your clothes with peace of mind.
