The choice of black is not insignificant. It is not an aesthetic preference, a trend followed, or a fad. Rather, it is a thoughtful choice, rooted in a personal and sincere approach.
It has now been almost three years since I exclusively wear black. Over time, this color has become an obvious choice: sober, discreet, constant. It has accompanied me on my journey toward the full veil; it has been a reason for my love for my veil, for a return to a simple veil, without embellishment, imbued with modesty, restraint, and sincerity. And it is naturally that I chose to place it at the heart of my brand.
Black is also a universal color. Unlike other colors, it adapts to all contexts and cultures. It is difficult, for example, to wear a color like pink in countries where customs (ʿurf) are marked by dark shades or black, such as in Saudi Arabia, without attracting attention or deviating from local norms.
Conversely, black crosses these borders without ever offending. Even in countries where the ʿurf is more colorful, such as Morocco, wearing black will not necessarily make you stand out from customs: whether it's a black abaya paired with a colored khimar, or a black niqab paired with a colored abaya, black integrates naturally and always remains appropriate, regardless of the country.
Black also has another essential advantage: the quality of available fabrics. It is in this color that we most often find the noblest and best-crafted materials, with more elegant drapes, optimal opacity, and impeccable hold over time. This allows for pieces that are durable, comfortable, and perfectly covering.
But beyond any rational explanation, there is something about black that cannot truly be explained. A depth, a restraint, a natural elegance. Black doesn't need to do too much. It asserts itself without attracting, it covers without exposing.
It is a color that soothes, protects, and rightly accompanies those who seek sincere modesty.
It is for all these reasons that, at Al Zawja Modesty, black is not an option. It is a choice. A guiding principle. An obvious truth. 🤍
Why am I only selling black items?
